Our Literary Journal: The Making of a Masterpiece

(If we must say so ourselves)

Guys. Guys!

As many of you know by now, together with my friend and creative partner Christopher Robin, I’m in the process of developing the first issue of our new literary journal The Memoirist Quarterly.

Since this is our first journey down the path of publication with this idea, I wanted to share a little sneak peek into our progress.

As I’m putting together the issue, it is becoming more and more beautiful. I can’t even put into words how exciting watching our baby come to life is. This is for sure a passion project, and it feels so great to be able to share it with you all.

Curious about what the journal will contain? Well, we are going to have at least fifteen memoirs that have been submitted to us from our website. Additionally, we’re going to include poetry, photography, artwork, and a couple of essays about the art of writing memoir.

Are we still accepting submissions? Our submissions window is open until July 2nd at 11:59 am. This is a hard stop as we need to prepare for publishing.

Where can I buy a copy? Our journal is meant to be experienced in print and will be available for purchase on Amazon in August.

Where can I find out more information? Visit our website at https://thememoiristquarterly.com. Also, check out this post by Christopher Robin — he really goes into some awesome detail.

The Memoirist Quarterly will be appx. 8 1/2 x 11 with a slick cover and color pages. As Chris details, it is going to include lined pages for you to jot down your own thoughts and notes. We imagine your print issue as a coffee table or bedside book. We think you’re going to love it as much as we do already!

I have completed the rough design complete with placeholder stories. Our final story selection will take place following the close of our submissions window and writers/artists will be notified if they’ve been accepted or not. Because space is limited, we have the very difficult job of deciding what will fit into the issue; since this is a quarterly, our hope is that writers will try again this fall.

Thanks to all of you who have given us encouragement and support. We can’t wait to share this with the world. xo — Ki
